"The Wings program accompanies young men and women from the moment they arrive in Israel, providing individual assistance prior to their military service to ensure optimal preparation for the IDF, as well as throughout their service, as they approach discharge, and for several years afterwards on a needs basis. Participation in Wings empowers individuals and provides tools for optimal incorporation into Israeli society, including assistance in maximizing lone immigrant soldiers' rights and supporting their integration into employment and higher education, helping Lone Soldiers become independent, contributing citizens."

The program was established by The Jewish Agency for Israel and the Merage Fund Israel, in partnership with the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration

The program provides a 360-degree support envelope for Lone Immigrant Soldiers, divided into four key stages:

  • Pre-Enlistment (Malshabim): Comprehensive preparation including bureaucracy workshops (Tzav Rishon), rights orientation, and social networking events to build a community before the draft.

  • During Service: Complementary support alongside the IDF, focusing on emergency intervention (e.g., financial aid, flying in parents), rights advocacy, and mental health resources.

  • Transition to Civilian Life: Intensive 5-day workshops held 3 months before discharge, covering financial literacy, processing the military experience, and navigating post-service benefits.

  • Post-Discharge (Up to 5 Years): Long-term professional guidance, including vocational testing, career and academic counseling, financial mentorship, and access to a vibrant alumni community.
